Esther Terry Kadyrova ….There is no English name for these windows…. My son is a traditional carpenter, and in English, the closest term would be »Architrave». [frame round a window or door aperture where it abuts the wall]….It seems to be a uniquely Russian tradition, the embellishing of the outsides of windows… Even in other »wooden house» Countries like Canada or Switzerland, they don’t have the exuberant decorations. Here is a traditional English window [sadly plastic windows are becoming popular……a parody of timber.]
