A little window in Nizhny Novgorod city

Curved wooden frame in Nizhny Novgorod city

The most difficult thing in this most difficult life is to choose a window nice enough to treat you today!  Every day I want to show you the most elegant, unusual and eye-catching ones, but save the exclusive for Saturday. Enjoy the most outstanding window frame from Nizhny Novgorod! I have only a couple of them in my collection, because I had spent just some hours in the city. But its style of wood carving is very peculiar…

Nalichniki (ornate wooden windows frames) in all its glory in Kirov city

Five traditional ornate wooden windows frames of wooden house in Kirov city

It had been almost six years ago when I was in the town of Kovrov, but its window frames is my happy memory. They were the first ones from Vladimir Oblast, and their strict simplicity just won my heart. They have something so brutal about them, that if I would have a house I would certainly decorate it with something of this style.

Nalichniki(old Russian window frames) with three-arched cover in Kovrov city

Ornate wooden frames in Kovrov
A couple of days ago I offered you window frames with three-arched cover occurring in the east of Moscow Oblast. Today, I have found this couple with the same three-arched cover, but… from the town of Kovrov, Vladimir Oblast. Curious thing is many books review patterns of window frames special for different areas, but no one traces migration of these patterns.

An ivy-covered house in Tombov

Wooden house in Tombov
Better late than never – that what came to my mind when in the mid of last night I decided to show you this ivy-covered house from Tambov. Its window frames turned out to be less intricate than I had expected. But wooden houses were rather interesting. This particular one is No.96 at Bazarnaya Street, not too far away from the town’s center. Enjoy it, if you ever happen to come to Tambov!

Yekaterinburg, Kirova 3

nice-looking wooden house
If only each house would have such a noticeable house plate, I would never need GRS:)))
This is a famous house of Brevnov family in Yekaterinburg. It was built in early XIX century and reconstructed in early XX one.
That is, it is a sample both of early XIX century traditional classicism architecture of Yekaterinburg, and of wooden dwelling house with a mezzanine, built at the dawn of XX century
The only thing is it not on the road well- travelled by tourists. And before, some structure removed now had stood in front of it. And I could take photos of this rather nice-looking house
