Half-refurbished house in Klin city

Half-refurbished wooden house

You may be surprised but I smiled when I had found this half-refurbished house in the town of Klin.

Yes, it is understandable – half of the house has recently been bought, and other half has kept its earlier appearance. Every time I see anything of the kind, I am curious what do the owners do with their house. Just imagine this house would keep its wooden façade: nothing special, hundreds (or even thousands) of this type can be still found in the Moscow region. The whole of it, and not just one side, covered with siding would certainly not make my head turning: rather boring. And this two-faced one is really eye-catching!

Maybe unfair I post nalichniki from Tomsk so seldom

Traditional Russian nalichniki

Tomsk is the only place where I managed to photograph about two hundred various window frames in one day only! It maybe unfair I post them so seldom. But then, good things come in small packages:)))

One more unusual thing about Tomsk is that about half of its houses are covered by lining boards (as this photo shows), and half have their logs exposed

Three very similar houses at the embankment of the Volga

Houses in art nouveau at the embankment of the Volga

Three very similar houses stand at the elevated embankment of the Volga, in the Romanovo Side of the town of Tutayev.

All three have stone foundations and absolutely the same art nouveau window frames, though now they are painted in different colors.

All three before 1917 were owned by the same family, a father and his two daughters, according to some sources.

All three family members were shot in the turmoil events of 1917.

All three their houses have survived…
